Amy Louise Acker was born in Dallas, Texas, in She grew up in a typical Texan family, with her father being a successful lawyer and her mother a homemaker.
From a young age, Amy was passionate about ballet and dreamed of becoming a ballerina. She spent 13 years studying and practicing ballet, as well as contemporary and jazz dancing, and became almost a professional. However, a knee injury during her school years made a career as a professional ballerina impossible, and Amy had to start dreaming about something else.
