About De Pas, D’Urbino & Lomazzi
Jonathan De Pas, Donato D’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi were all born in Milan in the 1930s.
Architect Donato D'Urbino spent most of his career working with Jonathan De Pas and Paolo Lomazzi, in the innovative and multi-award winning trio Studio De Pas.
They became partners in the 1960s, and began designing objects, architecture, installations, furnishings and much more together. They put a spotlight on Avant-garde design, creating temporary furniture using new materials and advanced industrial technologies.
In 1966, the three designers started their collaboration with manufacturer, Zanotta.
For the Italian Pavilion at the Osaka World Expo and the 14th Milan Triennale, the trio designed and built severable inflatable houses.
Another notable inflated design is the ‘Blow’ inflatable armchair designed in 1967.
